Saves and backups: never lose your career

Updated on November 4, 2026

Retranca has no account and no server. Your games stay only in your browser's storage, and that has two consequences: nobody else has access to your save, and keeping a copy is up to you. Fortunately, it's quick.

When the game saves

The game saves itself as you advance and when you close or switch tabs. In Settings, the Save now button is there for when you want to be sure. You can have several saves at once, and the main menu shows them all, with each one's club and date.

What can erase a save

  • Clearing the site's browsing data in your browser.
  • Playing in an incognito tab: when the window closes, everything is gone.
  • Running out of space on the device: the game asks the browser to protect its data, but not every browser guarantees it.
  • In Safari, sites unused for a few days can lose their data. Installing the game on the home screen helps avoid this.

How to export a save

  1. On the main menu, tap Export next to the game. Inside the game, the button is in Settings.
  2. The browser downloads a .fmsave file.
  3. Keep the file wherever you like: in the cloud, in your email or on a USB stick.

Do this from time to time, especially after a good season.

How to import a save

  1. Open the main menu on the other device or browser.
  2. Tap Import save and choose the file.
  3. The game appears in the list, ready to continue.

This is also how you move your career from phone to computer. The file is the entire game, compressed, and is usually small. Saves from older versions keep working, because the game converts them when opening.

More than one tab

The same save can only be open in one tab at a time. If you open it in another, the game warns you, so one tab can't overwrite the other. Just close the first one.

The Hall of Fame

Achievements and challenges won in each save are recorded in this browser's Hall of Fame, even if you delete the save later. It doesn't go in the exported file, because it belongs to the browser, not the save.

Recommended routine

  • Export at the end of each season, or when the career starts to matter.
  • Keep the file off the device.
  • Before clearing your browser or changing phones, export again.
